The next Hanuman Jayanti (हनुमान जयंती) is on Saturday, 7 November 2026, on Kali Chaudas, the day before Diwali. This is how it is kept in Ayodhya and in many homes of North India. The big Chaitra Purnima Hanuman Jayanti comes after that, on Tuesday, 20 April 2027. Below are all the dates, why there are more than one, and a simple way to do the puja at home.

Why Hanuman Jayanti comes more than once
People are often confused when they see Hanuman Jayanti in April and again in November. Both are right. Different parts of India follow different panchangs, and different traditions about the day Hanuman ji was born. In most of North India the big day is Chaitra Purnima. In Ayodhya, at Hanumangarhi, and in many families, it is Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi, the night before Diwali. The South has its own days too. So do not worry about which one is the real one. Keep the one your family keeps, and if you like, keep both.

A simple Hanuman puja at home
Nothing big is needed. This is how it is done in most homes, take what suits you.
- Take a bath and wear clean clothes. Red or orange is nice for Hanuman ji, but any clean clothes are fine.
- Clean the mandir or a small corner. Keep Hanuman ji's picture or murti on a red cloth, with Ram ji's picture too if you have one.
- Light a diya of ghee or til oil, and an agarbatti.
- Offer sindoor mixed with a little chameli oil, red flowers, and a bhog of boondi, besan laddoo or gud-chana.
- Do the paath in this order: Hanuman Chalisa, then the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak, then the Bajrang Baan.
- End with the Hanuman Aarti, and say Jai Shree Ram.
If you have two or three hours, do the Sundarkand path after the Chalisa, as many families do on Jayanti.
On Kali Chaudas the muhurat is near midnight. If that is hard for you, do the puja in the evening after sunset. Hanuman ji sees the bhaav, not the clock.

Yes, in Karnataka. Hanuman Vratam (Kannada Hanuman Jayanti) falls on Monday, 21 December 2026. The Tamil Hanumath Jayanthi does not fall in 2026 at all, it comes on Thursday, 7 January 2027.
Which paath should I do on Hanuman Jayanti?
Keep it simple. The usual order is Hanuman Chalisa, then the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak, then the Bajrang Baan, and the Hanuman Aarti at the end. This takes about 15 to 20 minutes. If you have more time, many families also do the Sundarkand path, which takes two to three hours.
Should I keep a fast on Hanuman Jayanti?
Many people keep a simple vrat, with fruits and milk, and eat after the evening puja. It is not compulsory. If your health or work does not allow it, just do the paath with a clean mind, that is enough.

सिंदूर और चमेली का तेल, लाल फूल, बूंदी या बेसन के लड्डू, और गुड़-चना सबसे आम भोग हैं. दीपक जलाकर हनुमान चालीसा और हनुमान अष्टक का पाठ करें और अंत में आरती करें. भाव सबसे बड़ी चीज़ है, सामान नहीं.
